Our engagement photoshoot | Wedding planning

I’m back from a lot of travelling and settling back into normal life in Scotland once again. I arrived on Friday and on Saturday we were off to do our engagement photoshoot.

As you may remember, we got engaged last November – though we had been talking about it seriously for about a year (#spousevisa). Through wedding planning, I had recently been looking into photographers and into doing a photoshoot this May. May is a good month in Scotland, but also, as our wedding is next May, I wanted to start putting together my save the dates.

It was by chance that a friend of ours, George, who is starting a photography business, got in touch to ask if we would consider doing our engagement photoshoot with him. I jumped at the chance, because he’s taken my photograph before, he’s extremely nice and I knew it was going to be a good experience!

This Saturday afternoon we went out with George to one of our favourite spots in the greater Stirling area, Port of Menteith. You see, there is a small island on the Lake of Menteith where stands the old ruin of a priory, called Inchmahome. We were there last May and it was bluebells season and it was beautiful. The Brit and I thought it would be the perfect backdrop for our photos.

The experience overall was great! At first, we were a bit awkward, trying to find our groove, between us and with George. But soon enough it became super easy and relaxed and we had a lot of fun, mostly standing in the sun cuddling each other. George directed us really well – thank god cause I didn’t know what I was doing with my own body! This blogger loves being behind the camera more ha!

Here is a small selection of some of our favourite photos, some we will be using for our wedding stationery and some we will definitely frame for our home!

George is a friend of ours, but the photoshoot with him was such a great and professional experience. If you’re looking for a photographer in the Stirling area, I can recommend you get in contact with him! He’s a fun and relaxed guy who will really make you feel at ease and capture the best moments. You can find his website here and his Facebook page here.
