Bake Along is Back! | Viennese Whirls

You may remember that last year I participated in the Great British Bake Off Bake Along organised by Amanda and Ala. Well the GBBO and Bake along are back!

I’ve been anticipating the episodes with excitement (who knew!) and I’m really enjoying the season so far. Though to be honest, we recently finished watching Masterchef Australia and, in comparison, the standard on GBBO is looking very low at the moment. My favourites are Selasi and Val, and Benjamina. But I do hope they step up and I look forward to seeing all the crazy creations coming up!

This year, I won’t be posting weekly, as it’s a lot of work and even more calories. But I will be dipping in and out if I feel like trying a challenge.

A few years ago I saw melting moments on MasterChef Australia and I became obsessed with them – they just looked exactly like my kind of cookie, you know? When I saw the Viennese Whirls, I thought they looked exactly alike and I had to make them!

I used Mary’s recipe from the show. It’s a very simple recipe! I recommend it to anyone who wants to make fancy little cookies. They are simple and yet look amazing. Perfect for a party, for work or just for fun!

I’m actually so proud of them! I mean I would be no star baker, let’s be honest. They were a bit flat and not uniform at all, but I was still pleased with the result. I was shocked when the Brit came home and actually exclaimed ‘Wow, they look amazing!’ He’s not often the most expressive man, so it surprised me how much he loved them (especially after promptly stuffing one in his mouth)!

What have you baked this week?xx
