Why Adventitious Violet?

Adventitious means foreign/not-native. Violet is my middle name – well actually it’s Violeta (spanish for Violet). I’ve combined both to create this name – because it represents my constant foreign nature, growing up between two different cultures and my current life as immigrant in the UK.

Who are you?

Good question! Who am I and why am I doing this?

My name is Camila and I’m a 27-year-old book nerd, feminist, wanderluster, writer and publishing professional currently based in Scotland.

Being raised by a Chilean father and French Canadian mother, I always lived between cultures. Between the North American and South American cultures. Between the French and English cultures of Montreal and Canada. Now, I live in Scotland with my British partner and it still feels like living life in between.

Adventitious Violet is the place where I share and discuss my many travels and the ups and down of living abroad. It includes the stories, tips & photos of my life between cultures.

    Hi Violet,

I really enjoyed your blog and loved reading about places to hike and backpack in Peru. I’ve always wanted to hike the Inca Trail.

I’m a blogger for Southwest Discoveries where I write about all kinds of hiking and backpacking topics. If you feature other writers, Iā€™d love to write for you. I just published Take a Hike: 7 of the Grandest Adventures in the Southwest
    http://www.southwestdiscoveries.com/take-a-hike-7-grandest-adventures-in-the-southwest/.

Let me know if you are interested. I am obviously not looking for payment, I’d just love for my work to be featured on a great site.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Thanks,

    Mitch
